Friends of the Woodland Public Library
announce the
"Save Our Library" Poster Contest Winners
The Friends of
the Woodland
Public Library would like to announce the winners of their "Save Our
Library" Poster contest. We received over 250 creative posters and
the judges had a difficult time narrowing it down to the top 20 in each
age
category. Over 200 votes were cast by the community to pick the final
winners and every poster received several votes.
The winners in
the 6-9 years age category are: 1st place is Alissandra Olague,
9 years old from C.E. Dingle School ,
Mrs. Amador's class; 2nd place is Monika Gomez, 6 years old from C.E.
Dingle School , Mrs. Saltero's Class; and 3rd place is
America Rodriguez, 7 years old from C.E.
Dingle School ,
Mrs. Saltero's class.
The winners in the10-12 years age category are: 1st place is Katie
Sakona, 11
years old from Zamora School, Mrs. Welty's class; 2nd place is Skylar
Allen, 11
years old from Zamora School, Mrs. Welty's class; and in a tie for 3rd
place are
Cassidy Schreiner, 11 years old, Woodland Girl Scout Troop #437 and
Kayla
Ashby, 12 years old, from Zamora School, Mrs. Welty's class.
The
Friends of the Library would like to thank the teachers and students
for
their participation and support of the library.
We'd also like to thank the hard working judges Al Eby, Jim
Smith, John
Roina, Carla Bohon, Kay Hodges, Meg Stallard and Al Smith.
The
first
place winning poster in each category will be framed, courtesy of the
Blue Wing Gallery, and displayed at the library, along with the other
posters. Most are displayed in the children's reading area, with the
top
40 and prize winning posters along the south hallway.
The
winners
and their parents are invited to celebrate at the library with an ice
cream social in early June, where they will be presented with their cash
prizes. Photos of the winning posters will be posted on the Friends'
