o October 4: New library hours go into effect.
o Every Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
o Every Saturday from 12 noon until 4 p.m.
o Closed every Friday and Sunday.
o October 14: Regular Board Meeting (5:30 pm) Leake Conference Room
o October 17-23: National Friends of the Library Week (and also National Teen Reads Week)
o October 21: (5:30 p.m.) Leake Conference Center. There will be a member's only reception for Library Services Director, Heather Muller and Woodland author Stephen Barnett. You may join at the door if you're not a member of FOL. At 6:30 p.m. the general public is invited to attend the author lecture, where Stephen Barnett will discuss his last book The Road to Makokota and also his new book, which is currently submitted for publication.
o October 28: Last Thursday of the Month Book Sale (4-6:30pm). Open to all. NOTE: The book sale will be over at 6:30 p.m. due to the new library operating hours.
o October 30: Historic Downtown Business Association "Trick or Treat" event held downtown (3-6:30pm). The Friends' will participate again this year with games and our popcorn machine.
o November 2010:
o November 2: Dia de los Muertos Event at Woodland Community College 5:30-9pm The Friends' will participate again this year and sponsored several crafts (luminaries and masks). We will also provide a "Day of the Dead" alter. Pleas join us for a fun "cross-cultural" event.
o November 10: Regular Board Meeting (5:30 pm) Leake Conference Room (NOTE: Library is closed on November 11, so the meeting was moved forward one day to Wednesday).
o November 18: "Last Thursday of the Month Book Sale" (4-6:30pm). Open to all. NOTE: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the book sale is being held a week early. Also, the book sale will be over at 6:30 p.m. due to the new library operating hours.
December, 2010:

o December 9: Thursday Members Only Preview Book Sale
4 - 6:30 pm. Shop early for the best selection.
o December 11: "Making Spirits Bright: Holiday Parade Weekend quarterly Saturday book sale (9am - 2pm) Lots of holiday and seasonal books on special. Plenty of gift books for stocking stuffers will also be on special. Open to all.
o December 30: Last Thursday of the Month Book Sale
Canceled due to the Christmas/New Year's holiday schedule.
o January, 2011:

o January 27: Last Thursday of the Month Book Sale (4-6:30pm). Open to all.
o January 29: Members Only Family Game Event (12-3 pm Leake Room). Suggestions for the afternoon include: Pizza and bingo, cold cuts and board games or other. Check back for more details.

o February 17: (5:30 p.m.) Leake Conference Center. Author, Eileen Rendahl, (Don’t Kill the Messenger) will be speaking to the Friends. She also publishes under Eileen Carr (Hold Back the Dark). There will be a member's only reception at 5:30 p.m., with the general public being invited to the author lecture at 6:30 p.m. You may join at the door if you're not a member of FOL.

Marcia is a first place essayist and the author of five published books, including Stressed in Scottsdale, Gossip.com, Boomerang, The Blind Eye, and Paper Children.
